Students of the Week: February 12

Ludlow-Taylor Has P.R.I.D.E.

P.R.I.D.E (Politeness, Respect, Integrity, Determination, Empathy)

Ludlow-Taylor’s P.R.I.D.E. committee was formed to oversee student behavior and engagement, with an emphasis on positive interactions and social-emotional learning.

Its initiatives include recognizing students of the week, implementing a buddy bench at recess,  establishing a student code of conduct, crafting student handbooks, and conducting author studies on books that teach character education. The committee will also resume the student ambassador program, where selected students serve as representatives that exemplify L-T P.R.I.D.E.

The “Student of the Week” initiative highlights exceptional students that show P.R.I.D.E. Students are nominated by their homeroom teachers, receive a shout out during morning announcements, have their picture taken, and receive a special pencil.

Student Spotlight: Poetry Competition

Ludlow-Taylor students submitted poems as part of the 2nd annual Poetry Competition held during Pancakes & Literacy on February 22.

Poems were judged by a panel of L-T teachers Mr. Bain (2nd) & Ms. Sanchez (4th) for the ECE-1st grades; Ms. Giovanni (4th) & Ms. Godfrey (4th) for 2nd grade; Ms. Sackeyfio (PK3) & Ms. Penn (ELA) for 3rd grade; and Ms. Cooper (1st) & Mr. Cooper (3rd) for 4th & 5th grades!

Judges selected 1 winner, 2 runners-up & several honorable mentions in each division. Pancakes & Literacy attendees also voted for their favorite poems via People’s Choice Awards!

To recognize the hard work of all students who participated in the competition, a Compendium of all submitted poems was published! Winners are noted within the Compendium!
