ABOUT  >>

Welcome

GeoPlunge Team
Ludlow-Taylor takes a students-centered approach to instruction. Our goal is to encourage inquiry, creativity and a love of learning from our Reggio inspired early childhood program through 5th grade. We aim to maximize outcomes academically, socially, and physically. We are a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School. Our recently renovated indoor and outdoor spaces are among the best that DCPS has to offer.

Principal Shaunte Daniel's Message
Principal Smith
Shaunte Daniel
Principal

I have invested my entire career in education for the students and families of DC Public Schools. I made my way in 2011 as an instructional aide for a short time before transitioning to teaching, and then serving as an instructional coach. Simultaneously, I continued to expand my knowledge by enrolling and completing a Masters degree in teaching from Trinity Washington University and I am now a cohort member in the Georgetown University Leadership & Innovation Program.

I have committed the last four years to being an Assistant Principal at both Langley ES and Stanton ES. At Langley, I played an integral role in doubling PARCC scores in both ELA and math. At Stanton, I poured myself into increasing strong systems, building community and developing teacher capacity.

I have a strong passion and find purpose in providing meaningful and authentic educational experiences for students. I believe students will transform when given avenues to promote their potential. My drive has resulted in a rise of academic performance for students, increased family engagement, improved school culture and instructional transformation. I continue my efforts to inspire and teach while building a platform to learn and develop.

"While we prepare to walk into a new season, I am committed to leading with transparency,
empathy, and intention"
- Principal Daniel.

2016 Blue Ribbon School

Ludlow-Taylor is a 2016 National Blue Ribbon School. National Blue Ribbon Schools are on education’s cutting edge, pioneering innovative educational practices from professional learning communities and project-based learning to social and emotional learning and positive behavior systems. Ludlow-Taylor earned a special designation as an Exemplary High Performing School for being among the top schools in the state.

Health & Wellness

Ludlow-Taylor was one of ten schools chosen to join the new DCPS School Design Lab for the 2018-2019 school year. We will implement a health-positive school structure modeled around Spark, a Harvard-researched book that explains the connection between exercise and the brain. Learn more.

Reggio Emilia

The Reggio Emilia Approach is an innovative approach to Early Childhood Education that values the child as strong, capable and resilient; rich with wonder and knowledge. Every child brings with them deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives their interest to understand their world and their place within it.
