NEWS & EVENTS >>
Since 2012, the PTO has sponsored an annual Pancakes & Literacy Night. We are thrilled to have this event back in person for the first time since the pandemic.
This much-loved event brings our community together for a fun night of breakfast for dinner, books, and other literacy-focused activities. This year's event will feature:
The pancake dinner is free for all attendees! In order to create a less chaotic (and hopefully more enjoyable) experience for everyone, we will be offering 3 seatings for the pancake dinner at 6:00PM, 6:35PM, and 7:10PM. Please sign-up for your preferred time slot here. Poetry Competition
We are thrilled to announce L-T's first ever poetry competition! With the help of our teacher judges (Ms. Sackeyfio, Ms. Monet, Ms. Cooper, Mr. Bain, Mr. Cooper, Ms. Giovanni & Ms. Godfrey), we will be awarding prizes in these groups:
The Rules Any L-T student may enter any poem or poems of their choice. Any poem submitted must be substantially students' own work. There is no limit on the number of poems that a student may enter. **For ECE only, instead of writing a poem, a student may enter a work of art that is poetry or literacy related e.g. a picture inspired by a particular poem or that features the alphabet.** To Enter To be eligible for the competition, poems must be received by Friday February 10 and must include the student's name & grade level. To submit your poem:
The Winners Our teacher judges will select one winner & two runners-up in each age bracket. No judge will review the work of any students that they teach, so students may ask their teacher for advice or help! All judging will be blind. Teachers will not know whose poetry they are reading. All winners & runners-up will have their poems displayed at school & will also receive medals during the Pancakes & Literacy Night event. |
