Happy Fall! We are coming upon the conclusion of our first advisory, so please be on the lookout for information from your classroom teacher regarding Parent-Teach Conferences. Also, we have exciting upcoming school-wide events that we are hoping to see everyone at including this Friday for our first LT Fall Festival and Movie Night, October 31st for our renowned costume parade, and November 17th for our 2nd Annual LT Thanksgiving. Please see the updates below for further information:
LTES Fall Festival and Movie Night: We have an incredibly exciting day planned for this Friday, October 20th beginning with our Fall Festival during the day and LT movie night in the evening. For parents that want to join during the day, Early Childhood and Kindergarten classes will be at Fall Festival from 10:00 – 12:00 and Grades 1-5 will be partaking in the events from 12:30 – 2:00. For LT Movie Night, we will be doing an official playground ribbon cutting around 6:15 p.m., with a showing of Sing beginning on the field at 6:45 p.m. More information can be found at the LT News Page on the website: http://www.ludlowtaylor.org/news.
Family Feedback: I want to thank everyone for taking the time to fill out the feedback link that was sent out a couple weeks ago. If you still would like to add feedback, the survey will be available for another week at: https://goo.gl/forms/LGczOdrR5FxsCkRX2.
When reviewing the feedback, there were particular positives around the new science special, variety of after-school and in-school specials, expansion of community events, new playground (of course!) and general positivity in classrooms and around the building. In terms of improvements feedback trends included: creating school-wide norms for weekly teacher updates, clear homework policies per grade level, focus around a positive behavior support system, and improving the dismissal procedures from the regular school-day and after-school. More clear action steps for each of these components will be relayed in my next update in two weeks.
LTES PTO Fall Campaign: Over the next few days, in backpacks, all families will be receiving information regarding our PTO Fall Fundraising Campaign. As a reminder, 100% of donations directly impacts students and staff across all grade levels. As we know, the DCPS budget alone is not enough to achieve the world-class education we seek for our students. Your donations help bridge the gap by allowing investments in technology, inquiry-based learning materials, capital improvements, and adequate supplies for our teachers and specials leads. Please visit http://www.ludlowtaylor.org/donate.html for further information.
