2017-2018 Enrollment Reminder
Early Bird Enrollment begins on Monday, April 3rd for the 2017-2018 school year.

Each school year, all families are required to submit in person a completed enrollment packet to the main office. This includes proving DC residency.  In addition, all families must turn in a copy of the Birth Certificate/Passport for each child enrolling and complete the following:
  • Home Language Survey
  • Consent Form: Media Release
  • DC Universal Health Certificate Form
  • DC Oral Health Assessment Form

The complete DCPS Enrollment, Lottery Handbook is available at dcps.dc.gov/publication/sy-17-18-enrollment-and-lottery-handbook – copies will also be available in the main office.

After-School Enrollment Reminder
After-school enrollment will also begin on Monday April 3rd

Please consider the following prior to enrollment:
  • School enrollment forms must be completed first.  It often takes two days for school enrollment forms to process prior to being able to register for after-school
  • After-school registration is only online – http://dcps.dc.gov/DCPS/asp. Your child’s student IP is helpful to access the online system.
  • We have done our best to increase capacity for next year, but seats will still be limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • After-school will start Wednesday, August 23rd (the third day of school), Monday and Tuesday are needed to appropriately train new staff.

LTES Families:
I want to start with two huge shout-outs to Mr. J.P for putting together a host of activities for Black History Month, culminating in our first LT Mardi Gras and to Melanie Moore for leading a fantastic team for Pancakes and Literacy.  Both events made me feel very lucky to be part of this community, so thank you to everyone that came out and supported too!
Early Childhood Retention Letter:
All ECE families should have received a retention letter on Wednesday.  Please fill out it and send it back to school, as it will help us in determining open lottery seats for next school year.  If you did not receive one, extras will be in the main office.
Taste for The Arts Auction:
This year’s event will be held on Saturday, March 25th at St Marks Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill.  If you have not already done so, mark your calendars and visit our website at http://www.ludlowtaylor.org/2017-taste-for-the-arts-auction.html for further information and to buy tickets.  We hope to have as many families to attend as possible, so all teachers have free tickets for families that might not be able to purchase tickets.  Please reach out to your homeroom teacher for further information.
LSAT Update:
Along with the support of the LSAT Team, I submitted our final budget this past Monday.  Next, that budget is reviewed by DCPS prior to finalization.  My hope is to have all details to the community by the end of the month.  If accepted, we are excited about some minor shifts for next school year.
Playground Update::
Our playground equipment was officially ordered and has now arrived at a DGS warehouse. However, still just waiting on the start date…
Important Dates:
     - Saturday, March 25th   - Taste for the Arts Auction
     - Friday, March 31st – Professional Development Day – no school for students
     - April 17th – Spring Break begins
Please reach out with any questions, comments or concerns.

Ludlow Taylor Community:
I hope that you are enjoying the unseasonably warm weather, particularly because it gives your children a chance to run and play outside.  I know we have been taking advantage of it at Ludlow these past few weeks.  Before we get too far into March, I wanted to reach out and personally ask that you save the date for the 2017 Taste for the Arts Auction.  This year’s event will be held on Saturday, March 25th at St Marks Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill.  If you have not already done so, mark your calendars now and visit the website to buy tickets for the event.  Hopefully you also received a flyer in your child's backpack with this information as well.
The DCPS budget alone is not enough to achieve the world-class education we seek for our students.  The Taste for the Arts auction is one of Ludlow Taylor’s primary methods of raising funds to support additional educational resources, including improved technology, field trips, more books for more classrooms, and many other materials and supplies that benefit all students.
I am hoping each of our parents can help us make this event a success by doing any one or all of the following:
- Seek donations. The auction planning team continues to look for items to auction off.  If you know a business, reach out to them to donate.  If you have a particular skill or interest, consider donating a “parent experience”!  If you can cook, donate a home-delivered meal. If you can play an instrument, donate a few lessons.  [if !supportLists]•
- Spread the word. We want to make sure all parents at Ludlow-Taylor know about the auction and understand the positive impact it will have on their child’s education.  If you are reading this message, share it with your Ludlow family!
- Attend! We want to see you there on March 25th.  And we would love it if you could also invite your friends, family, neighbors, and people at work to join you.
With your help, we can ensure that your children’s teachers have the funds to continue to do incredible things.
Sincerely,
A. Smith
