The first day of school is almost here and we are excited! We have plenty of information to share with you below to ensure our students are set for success.
Parent Teacher Organization (PTO)
We are grateful for our PTO which offers a way for parents to come together and works closely with school leadership to support our school in a variety of ways.
Learn more about our PTO by visiting http://www.ludlowtaylor.org/about.html. E-mail PTO@ludlowtaylor.org to get involved or donate.
Additionally, this month, DCPS is kicking off a Parent University series focused on the #ReopenStrong questions at the top of your mind, including what learning at home looks like, online tools, and more.
These online events will be held weekly and recordings of each session will be posted on DCPS website, https://dcpsreopenstrong.com/, so you can watch any time.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
We have collected all questions asked during our parent meetings and over the course of the previous weeks and compiled them into the Frequently Asked Questions document.
Check out the Chat & Chew PPT slides if you missed the offered webinars.
Technology
Does your student need a device for learning at home? Complete this short survey.
For those who received the confirmation tech email from me, you can pick up devices Wednesday, August 26th through Friday, August 28th, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.
The DCPS Student Tech Recommendations document includes recommendations on which devices to use for students.
It provides guidance parents can use to assess whether a device they own or plan to purchase is suitable for DCPS virtual instruction. While DCPS has not tested every specific laptop/tablet available, aligning with the specifications outlined in the document is recommended.
Materials Distribution & Medication Pick-up
Wednesday, August 26th through Friday, August 28th, from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM, Ludlow-Taylor Elementary will be open for families to pick up instructional materials; medication and student cubby items left from last year.
Schoolwide Wishlist
We are so grateful for the many of you who have reached out and asked how you can support and prepare teachers. After speaking with teachers, we have compiled a school-wide wish list that is NOT the same as the classroom/grade level wish list. We are only attaching this list if you would like to contribute to the school, overall.
Thank you all and have a great weekend. We will continue learning, growing, and planning together. We will also share updates as they come.
Next up.. you will hear from your classroom teacher!
YAY!!!!
With Love,
Principal Daniel
