There are many ways to help raise money for our school. Here are some easy ways you can contribute this month.

VOTE DAILY! We are competing for a chance to win $10,000, $7,500 or $5,000 from the WTOP News Click for Kids Sweepstakes! Prizes are awarded based on the number of votes received. Money will be used to expand the FoodPrints program next school year.

​Voting is open now through March 16 at 5 pm. One vote per person per day. Please vote daily and spread the word through Facebook and Twitter!

ORDER DINNER FROM GALLEY! The Galley Give Back Promotion Week is back! Order between Sunday, March 11 and Friday, March 16. Our last Galley fundraiser raised over $300. SHOP AMAZON SMILE! Amazon is tripling the donation amount to 1.5% when customers make their first eligible AmazonSmile purchase from March 12–31. For all other eligible purchases, Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price to the Ludlow-Taylor PTO. To date, Amazon has donated $275 to our school. Learn about more ways to earn money for our school through shopping.

BUY YOUR AUCTION TICKETS! The Taste for the Arts Auction will be on Saturday, April 7 from 7:00-10:00 pm at Saint Marks Episcopal Church. Tickets are on sale now and online bidding opens on March 19.

THANK YOU! As 2017 winds down and we begin a new year, we want to take the opportunity to say thank you.

This school year has been full of learning, energy, and excitement for our student and staff.
  • Our students are excelling academically. Our Blue Ribbon recognition in 2016 was followed by a big increase in our 2016-2017 PARRC scores, soaring to almost 20% higher than the year prior.
  • Our community is thriving. This year’s Annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner was attended by more than 150 people, and our first-ever Movie Night was enjoyed by over 300.
  • Our facility is growing. Our student community, as well as the larger Capitol Hill neighborhood, are abuzz about our beautiful new playground and basketball court.
 
The Ludlow-Taylor PTO, its donors, and volunteers are critical to these successes. For example, we have implemented Writer’s Workshop, a research-based, creative writing program from Columbia University, with the help of PTO funds. Every student has at least 35 minutes of writing-specific instruction and practice daily. Teachers receive intensive professional development around the curriculum and strategies for student engagement and achievement.  In addition, we are able to offer students and their teachers improved technology, field trips, books, and exciting classroom learning experiences. 
 
Ludlow-Taylor PTO depends on two key fundraising efforts to support these types of programs and opportunities. As a parent or community member, we hope you will consider giving, participating, promoting, or otherwise contributing to the success of the following two projects:
 
Community of Giving Campaign
The Campaign Provides an opportunity for Community Members to provide financial support to Ludlow-Taylor. This year we have a goal of raising $25,000 by December 31. So far, we have raised over $13,000 towards this effort. Please consider donating to our campaign as part of your year-end giving.
 
Taste for the Arts Auction
The auction is a wonderful event for families, teachers, staff, and community members to spend a fun night out in support of our school. This year’s event will take place on April 7, 2018 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill. Mark your calendar now and stay tuned for updates as the event gets closer.
