On the December 19 and 20, parents, family, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to make their own lanterns and contribute to the growing installation. Stop by the Art Room from 5:00-6:00 pm prior to the winter concerts to create your lantern.
As part of our year long goal of uniting the school community, Mr. Jean-Pierre is leading an effort to build a community art installation. Every Ludlow-Taylor student is creating a paper lantern. These unique lights are are tied together in the eastern hallway to literally and figuratively unite every Ludlow-Taylor student, from pre-Kindergarten to fifth grade. The installation symbolizes the light and fire needed to lead our community in the right direction as a school, a community, and citizens of this nation.

On Thursday, November 16, our grade 2-5 students hosted Ludlow-Taylor's first Publishing Party. Students picked the written piece that they were most proud of and shared it with parents, teachers, and other students. Kindergarten and first grade students, parents, and staff rotated among the readers, listened to their stories, provided compliments, and asked questions.
Students were very excited to share their stories. Nolan (third grade) said, “My favorite thing about the publishing party was that we could show parents, teachers, and other students our hard work.” Publishing Parties are key part of the Writing Workshop curriculum that is being introduced in grades K-5 this year. In Writing Workshop, students write about their own lives, use a consistent process, work in authentic ways, and develop independence as writers. Learn more about Writing Workshop, upcoming Publishing Parties, and how you can support your writer at home.
