Math Resources

Picture
Mathematics knows no races or geographic boundaries; for mathematics, the cultural world is one country.
—David Hilbert (1862-1943, German mathematician)

Math at Home

Your involvement in your child’s education can have a significant impact on his or her success in school. You and your student can do the following activities at home to reinforce math concepts.
  • Practice problem solving with real-world math, like calculating the cost at a store, determining elapsed time, doubling or halving a recipe, determining the number of miles driven in X hours, count objects, or identifying number words.
  • Play games that involve math like Yahtzee, Memory, Monopoly, Go Fish, and “War.”
  • Practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts with flash cards, a deck of cards, or oral practice
  • Show a positive attitude toward math. Your feelings about math can influence the way your student feels about math.

Great Minds Resources

Our Math curriculum, Eureka by Great Minds, has great resources for parents on their website. By setting up a free account, you can have access to:
  • Homework Helpers — A grade-level resource that provides step-by-step explanations of how to work problems similar to those found in Eureka Math homework assignments. There is a Homework Helper to go with every homework assignment in the curriculum.
  • Parent Tip Sheets — Topic-level tip sheets that explain math strategies and models, provide key vocabulary, sample problems, and links to useful videos.

Digital Learning Sites

These sites are great for use in school and at home. Students have log-ins for these sites. Ask your student’s teacher for the log-in and password.
  • ST Math: Interactive, animated math games that visually represent mathematical concepts
  • Zearn: Lessons and activities aligned to the Eureka Math curriculum
  • iReady: Activities and games based on student’s current math levels
  • That’s A Fact: Math fact fluency website
