PTO committees support the Executive Board in carrying out its mission. There are many volunteer opportunities available. Each committee is always accepting new members who would like to get involved and help support Ludlow-Taylor.

Auction

COMMITTEE CHAIRS: 
Heather Martin

The PTO Auction Committee plans and organizes the annual Warriors' Night Out Auction. Volunteers are need to:

• Secure sponsors
• Obtain donations for the auction
• Plan food and music
• Reserve event space
• Sell tickets
• And, much more

This event is our largest fundraiser, financially supporting many school-wide events and initiatives.

The PTO Events Committee organizes a wide variety of events for the Ludlow-Taylor Community such as:

•  Pancakes & Literacy Night
•  PTO meeting dinners 
•  Open houses for perspective parents
•  Teacher Appreciation Week 

In addition to planning these events the committee also represents Ludlow Taylor at city-wide DCPS events.

Volunteers are always needed at events—please fill out our Volunteer Form to sign up for specific events.

Fundraising

The PTO Fundraising Committee raises funds to finance school needs and initiatives, such as educational support needs, school activities, community events, and other capital needs. The Fundraising Committee manages the fall Community of Giving Campaign, shopping incentives, community events (ex. Whole Foods Spirit Days, Galley Foods Give Back Week), and is always interested in exploring new ways to raise additional funds for Ludlow-Taylor.  

Grants

COMMITTEE CHAIR:

The PTO Grants Committee applies for multiple grant opportunities over the course of the year and works on other special projects at the request of the principal or PTO executive board. The committee works to ensure that Ludlow-Taylor takes advantage of every grant opportunity offered to schools on Capitol Hill and also applies for a select number of "reach" grants every year. If you know of grant opportunities that we should be applying for, or have experience applying for grants, please email the committee.

Grounds

COMMITTEE CHAIRS:

The PTO Grounds Committee is responsible for maintaining Ludlow-Taylor’s outdoor space and assisting the custodial staff with facilities needs inside the building.  The committee holds the annual Beautification Day the Saturday before school starts as well as various plantings and clean-up days throughout the year. Ludlow-Taylor is very excited to have RiverSmart and FoodPrints gardens that this committee will help maintain.

Marketing and Communications

The PTO Marketing and Communications Committee supports communication to families and promotes our school to the community. Our goals are to:

• assist in providing timely and consistent information on upcoming events;
• spotlight special events at the school; and 
• recognize the accomplishments of our talented teachers, staff, and students. 

We accomplish this through managing this website, Facebook page, list serv, Flickr site, and Hill Rag submissions. In addition, we support the marketing and communication for school-wide events, such as the Auction and Pancakes & Literacy night.
